Since as far back as 2006, ecom instruments has placed its faith in heat from the earth. The geothermal system, costing around €500,000, regulates the temperature throughout the company's premises. This type of air conditioning can save around 60% of energy costs.
Geothermal power is one of the regenerative energy sources. Geothermal energy is extracted from the earth's crust and used directly for heating. There are 11 probes located 140 meters below ecom's company car park. The heated water reaches the company building via a vast pipe system to heat or air-condition the rooms.
Geothermal plants ensure constant and reliable availability of energy, which cannot be supplied at present by any other renewable energy source, such as wind or solar energy. Furthermore, the plant does not emit any CO2 whatsoever, which means it is environmentally friendly and has only a minor influence on the environment at the surface.
