It’s not the phone in my life, it’s the life in my phone

When you ask smartphone business users what they need most from their next device, a significantly longer battery life is right up there at the top of the list. This is because whether it is the end of your shift, the end of your day or the end of the world the chances are you will need to make that all important call.

The myth (or reality) that your phone is more likely to be empty the more you need it drives every user’s desire for better phone battery life. This was recently confirmed by a survey of the industry association Bitkom in the run up to this year's Mobile World Congress. Most consumer products now only hold out for one day before needing to be recharged.

Unfortunately the reality is even worse than this. Most batteries in the market have a capacity of 1800 or 2000mAh and with intensive use a smartphone battery often only holds out for just a few hours. Even TV and Hollywood understands the problem. How often is limited or no battery life use to support a cliff-hanger moment? (Ok sometimes it’s no signal.)

In reality all our lives now pivot around the use of mobile computing and communications. We have all had some sort of real cliff-hanger in our own lives when our battery runs out and we sprint to a landline, or a charger, to avoid confusion or crisis.

This is why phone batteries for mobile workers need to last longer, but this is not always the case. Unfortunately some manufacturers don’t upgrade batteries for business and the inadequacies of the domestic market are allowed to create cliff-hangers in business.

To make sure that this never happens with ecom equipment the new Smart-Ex® 01 comes with a powerful lithium-ion battery with a huge capacity of 3600mAh that can meet the demands of the work environment. This is by far the highest capacity of an intrinsically safe smartphone on the market and it doubles the capacity of the battery HC (High Capacity) of the Ex-Handy 08.

But ecom knows that increasing the battery capacity is just half the battle. This is why ecom optimized the application control processes and the whole energy management system to ensure the most effective use of battery power. The energy optimisation process also extended to the built-in hardware of the Smart-Ex, for example BLE (Bluetooth Low Energy).

All this development work has delivered significant results in the field. The new Smart-Ex smartphone from ecom gives a user 40 hours pure talk time and a staggering standby time of 1000 hours.

We know for field workers it’s not just the phone in their life it’s the life in their phone!
