Three Petrobras Employees Injured in Explosion

On the 19th January, three employees of the giant Brazilian state owned oil company, Petrobras were hurt in an explosion at a refinery outside Salvador. The employees suffered severe burns but were immediately helped by the medical staff. Petrobras said there are no damages to the environment and the market supply will not be affected by the accident.

The workers triggered the explosion as they used an electric rotary sander on the inside of a hydrogen tank. They did not consider that a single spark could trigger an explosion in a hazardous area.

Petrobras is one of the world’s largest oil companies. Furthermore, the company is world leader in development of advanced technology from deep-water oil production and is major distributor of oil products like petroleum and its derivatives.
