Use Case: ENGIE’s Offshore Inspection App and ecom’s Tab-Ex® increasing efficiency and saving costs

In Cooperation with a Norwegian IT company, the international energy company ENGIE E&P Norge has developed an application for Offshore Inspections. The ENGIE Mobile Inspection Solution, short EMIS app, is used on the Gjøa platform in the North Sea. In combination with ecom's Tablet, potential costs of 5-10 Million NOK ($ 660K - 1.3MM) can be saved every year from improved efficiency and risk scenarios. On the platform 23 kilometres of pipes have to be inspected regularly. Thus, at least 100.000 NOK (approx. $ 13K) can be saved for every meter of pipes.

This is a great example for a perfect combination of intrinsically safe hardware and customized software solutions. Maintenance work can be initiated before any pipes suffer complete damage, costs can be saved, and safety is improved enormously.

Ecom's Tab-Ex® 01 is the world's first Tablet Computer on the market, for use in Zone 1 hazardous areas. The Tablet and EMIS app helped to digitalise maintenance work, due to less paperwork and less time to write reports and documentations which are needed. Thanks to mobile network technologies, captured data and photos taken to document potential pipe damage, can be shared in real-time. Onshore engineers can analyse the gained data better and easier, which leads to faster decision-making.
