World Day for Safety and Health at Work 2016

World Day for Safety and Health at Work takes place on April 28, 2016. The day was declared by the International Labour Organization (ILO) to promote the prevention of occupational accidents and diseases globally. World Day for Safety and Health at Work is an awareness-raising campaign "intended to focus international attention on emerging trends in the field of occupational safety and health and on the magnitude of work-related injuries, diseases and fatalities worldwide".

Occupational safety and health (OSH) is a cross-disciplinary area concerned with protecting the safety, health and welfare of people engaged in work or employment. The goals of occupational safety and health programs include to foster a safe and healthy work environment. OSH may also protect co-workers, family members, employers, customers, and many others who might be affected by the workplace environment.

Occupational safety and health can be important for moral, legal, and financial reasons. All organisations have a duty of care to ensure that employees and any other person who may be affected by the companies undertaking remain safe at all times. Moral obligations would involve the protection of employee's lives and health. Legal reasons for OSH practices relate to the preventative, punitive and compensatory effects of laws that protect worker's safety and health.

Every year some two million men and women lose their lives through accidents and diseases linked to their work. In addition, there are 270 million occupational accidents and 160 million occupational diseases each year, incurring US$ 2.8 trillion in costs for lost working time and expenses for treatment, compensation and rehabilitation. Fatalities, accidents and illness at work are highly preventable and we have an obligation to act.

A national occupational safety and health culture is one in which the right to a safe and healthy working environment is respected at all levels, where governments, employers and workers actively participate in securing a safe and healthy working environment through a system of defined rights, responsibilities and duties, and where the highest priority is accorded to the principle of prevention.

Customers safety is ecom's top priority

Customers safety, protection of the environment and assets as a measure of all actions - this principle has been ecom's basis for 30 years of success in the Ex-area. And a considerable motivator for our engineers, developers and specialist manufacturers. In the future their ideas, attention to detail and passion will ensure work inside and outside the Ex-area is safer, more flexible and more efficient.

It's all about eliminating and avoiding risks! Ensuring Mobile Worker's safety must always remain the highest priority. At all places where flammable substances are produced, processed, transported or stored, safety is mandatory - especially in all sectors with hazardous areas: chemical industry, petrochemical industry, oil and natural gas and mining.

To cause an explosion only three elements are required: gas or dust, oxygen and any ignition source - for example an electric sparks, a hot surface or a short-circuit can be just a step away. Ensuring that potential ignition sources are removed or prevented can eliminate the risk of an explosion.

Watch ecom's latest video and learn about the guidelines and questions which need to be answered to ensure safety without compromising on efficiency.
