ecom‘s Digital Products and Services offer a portfolio of constantly growing product solutions, services and tools to serve our customers according to their requirements. The following provides an overview of our current offering.
Products include our well-known Lone Worker Protection App eSENTINEL (previously Red Button App) and eBARCODE (previously CamScan Keyboard App) which are available in Essential and Premium versions with additional Honeywell HSM decoder that provides fast and reliable decoding of most 1-D and 2-D barcodes as well as NFC/HF RFID tags.
Products are no longer IMEI-based (due to the changes that come with Android™ 11) and are therefore from now on only available as Multi License Keys, which allow the use on different devices (not simultaneously).
Multiple license keys can be managed via the eDS Portal, but can also be managed „offline“ via the Check-In function within the app. Services support customers in many ways. From staging devices in ecom production to offering an out-of-the-box experience (OOBE) with our eCSL corporate by enrolling the devices into an existing MDM/EMM system (Android Zero Touch (AZT) and Knox Mobile Enrollment (KME)) to a fully functional MDM/EMM system using our eMDM. In the area of eCSL, we distinguish between generic, meaning publicly available eCSLs, and corporate eCSLs.
Public eCSLs are CLASSIC MODE (previously Phone Only Mode and only available for the Ex-Handy 10), Camera Only Mode (only available for the Smart-Ex® 02) and Kiosk (previously SureLock license), which consists of a selectable Android device from our portfolio and the SureLock license.
Corporate eCSLs work in a familiar way. Customers inform ecom of the configuration with which their devices arrive at their site. Application engineering creates a staging file (calculable implementation service/fee) and a custom part number that consists of the hardware and the corporate eCSL. The final part number price includes the cost of the device and a handling fee for staging during the production process.
In case of a third-party enrollment service to AZT/KME, the customer must provide us with their portal customer ID. A small fee will be charged in addition to the hardware costs (separate number).

The eDS Portal enables managing and configuring of nearly all ecom hardware devices, software services and applications for IT Administrators, Super-Users and Project leaders from one central location.
At the customer’s request, ecom’s mobile devices can ship from the factory with predefined custom configurations such as security settings, applications, and wireless setup.
This allows devices to be used anywhere in the world immediately upon delivery — manual configuration is not necessary.
The devices can be managed via the ecom online platform and updated remotely at any time during operation without having to be sent to local IT staff or the head office.
Specifications
- Cloud servers hosted in Germany meet the highest data protection standards and guarantee high data availability and security. One-time staging or enrolling can also be done internally via ecom's production servers.
- If desired, device diagnostics and analytics can collect real-time operational data and fault analyses of the mobile devices to continuously monitor their condition and fix malfunctions preventatively or immediately.
- Additionally, the platform analyzes historical data to detect critical software events, installations, and other security-critical processes.
- Statistical accumulations of events can be used to establish correlations and causalities between software errors, geographical data, and Wi-Fi coverage, for example.
