Assamstadt, 09.03.2020 - The Pepperl+Fuchs brand ecom receives the prestigious Hazardex Award 2020 in the category "PPTex Innovation", i.e. Personal Protection Technologies for hazardous areas. ecom is honored specifically for its explosion-protected mobile devices and wide-ranging solutions specifically developed for usage in harsh environments. The applications offer employees the highest level of safety and great user comfort.
The Hazardex Awards annually honor companies worldwide for outstanding achievements in the field of explosion protection. Last week, the winners in altogether five categories were announced. ecom left its competitors in the category "PPTex Innovation" trailing behind. The new smartphone Smart-Ex® 02 and the Tab-Ex® 02 were chosen as the best innovations in the field of technical equipment for employee protection in potentially explosive industrial environments.
Smartphone, tablet and infrared camera awarded
Last Year ecom presented the brand's latest smartphone, the Smart-Ex® 02. The intrinsically safe Android smartphone is designed for an extended temperature range from -20 to +60°C and can be used under the most extreme conditions - thanks to support for 21 LTE radio bands worldwide. With certifications for Zone 1/21 and Div. 1, it is the most advanced explosion-proof smartphone on the market to date.
Tab-Ex® 02 offers companies more transparency thanks to future-proof digitalized applications and a competitive advantage through more efficient and secure processes. The tablet is available as a robust industrial device for rough environments up to Zone 2/22 / Div. 2 and Zone 1/21 / Div. 1 for hazardous areas.
In addition, Cube 800, which is tailored to work with ecom´s smart devices, was also awarded. It is the first portable and explosion-proof infrared and HD video camera for Zone 1/21 and Div.1. This thermal imaging camera was developed and approved for the Ex area by ecom in cooperation with Librestream. Librestream received the "Delegates' Award" for the thermal imaging camera, an award assigned by the visitors of Hazardex 2020 conference and exhibition. Connected to the intrinsically safe Smart-Ex or Tab-Ex, industrial workers can control the camera from any location, view HD video and thermal images and share these remotely with experts worldwide or record and comment live from a safe distance. This allows critical areas of the plant to be identified more quickly and allows for immediate implementation of appropriate measures.
