Due to the energy-saving Bluetooth-standard Bluetooth® Low Energy (BLE), in combination with the radio beacons, ecom instruments is successful in expanding their Lone Worker Protection (LWP) portfolio; and therefore is able to offer their customers even more safety and a variety of further possibilities.
With the help of the Bluetooth®-Beacons, the new Loc-Ex® 01, indoor and outdoor locations will be enabled, access controls be realized, and guidance systems established by sending signals in periodic intervals. To achieve this, beacons are mounted in a certain area, such as a hallway, to light up the whole area. The location will be accomplished in three different ways, depending on the accuracy. Either the device, such as a Smartphone, receives the signal from only one beacon and therefore is located within a closer proximity. Or, the device receives signals from several beacons and is able to determine its location (even on different floors), within a three-dimensional area by triangulation. Furthermore, the area of concern can be measured in advance so that every position is assigned signal strength, thereby making that location possible even with the failure of a single beacon.
