Virtual reality (VR) describes a computer-generated world with picture and sound. VR glasses are used to create an interactive virtual environment. Language as well as head and hand movements navigate and control the system. The motion sensors built into the VR goggles detect movements and transmit them in real time. This creates a direct interaction between the user and the virtual world.

In the industry, VR systems are used in the development of new products and employee training.
