A cyber-physical system is a combination of a software component and mechanical or electronic parts. Control, monitoring, data transfer, and data exchange are often carried out via the Internet in real time.

Cyber-physical systems are an important part of Industry 4.0.

Robots, the Internet of Things, and networked machines are examples of cyber-physical systems.
